Early Life and Family

Dominic Rains was born in Tehran, Iran. When he was a young child, his family moved to London, England. Later, they moved to the United States, where he grew up in Dallas, Texas. He went to The Colony High School in Texas. Dominic has an older brother, Ethan Rains, who is also an actor.

Starting His Acting Career

Dominic Rains began his acting journey in 2003. His first big role was in the TV movie Saving Jessica Lynch. In 2006, he appeared in another popular TV movie, Flight 93.

From July to October 2007, Dominic played Dr. Leo Julian in General Hospital: Night Shift. This was a spin-off show from the daytime soap opera General Hospital. When Dominic was busy with other projects, his brother Ethan took over the role of Dr. Julian in 2008. After General Hospital, Dominic appeared in many other TV series. These include 24, Flash Forward, Burn Notice, and NCIS.

Notable Film Roles

In 2010, Dominic Rains became more widely known for his role in the independent film The Taqwacores. This movie was based on a book about a punk rock scene. Critics really liked his performance. The New York Times said his acting was "particularly eye-catching." He even won an award for best actor at an international film festival for this role.

Later in 2010, he started filming the lead role in a supernatural thriller called Jinn. The movie came out in 2014. Dominic played Shawn Walker, a young car designer. Shawn discovers an old secret that puts his family in danger.

Dominic also appeared as Saeed in the horror film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. This movie was very popular at the Sundance Film Festival. Many critics praised it after it first came out.

In 2019, Dominic Rains joined the cast of the NBC medical drama Chicago Med. He plays Dr. Crockett Marcel, a new trauma surgeon. Dr. Marcel comes from New Orleans and is a very skilled surgeon. However, his daring attitude often causes problems for him and others at the hospital. He has been a main character on the show since then. He also appeared in related shows like Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.
