Dominique Alexander, born on April 20, 1995, is a former American football player. He was a linebacker, which is a key defensive position in football. Dominique played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners. After college, he joined the Cleveland Browns in 2016.

Early Life and High School Football
Dominique grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and went to Booker T. Washington High School. He was a star player on his high school football team, the Hornets. Many experts thought he was a very talented player. He decided to play college football at the University of Oklahoma.
College Football Career
Dominique started playing for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2013. Even as a freshman, he played in almost every game. He was named the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. This award recognized him as the best first-year defensive player in the Big 12 Conference.
During his freshman year, he made 80 tackles and had one sack. A tackle is when a defensive player stops an offensive player who has the ball. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.
As a sophomore, Dominique started every game. He led his team with 108 tackles and had 2.5 sacks. In his junior year, he again started all 13 games. He led the team in tackles for the second time with 103. He also recorded another sack and an interception, which is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player. After his junior season, he decided to enter the 2016 NFL draft.

After his college career, Dominique Alexander hoped to join the NFL. Many scouts saw his talent, especially his speed and ability to cover offensive players. However, some worried about his size and strength.

Even though he was not chosen in the 2016 NFL Draft, Dominique signed with the Cleveland Browns on May 5, 2016. This meant he joined the team as an undrafted free agent.
Time with the Cleveland Browns
Dominique worked hard during training camp to earn a spot on the team. He competed for a backup linebacker position. When the regular season began, he was a backup left inside linebacker.
He played in 14 games during the 2016 season. Most of his playing time was on special teams, which are units that play during kickoffs, punts, and field goals. He recorded seven tackles during this time.
In October 2017, Dominique was placed on injured reserve. This means he could not play due to an injury. In May 2018, the Browns released him from the team.
