Don't Eat the Neighbours is a funny TV show for kids. It was also known as Big Teeth, Bad Breath. This show came from the United Kingdom and Canada. It first aired in 2001 and 2002.
The series mainly used puppets to bring its characters to life. Sometimes, it also used computer graphics for special effects. The story is mostly about a character named Rabbit and his neighbor, Wolf. Their children also play a big part in the show. Jim Guttridge created the music for the series. The catchy theme song was made by Dan Gagnon, Sandy Nuttgens, and Michael Scott.
Only four episodes of the show were released on VHS and DVD. These were part of a collection called A Rabbit for All Seasons in 2001.
What the Show is About
Rabbit lives in a peaceful forest in England. He lives with his three children: Lucy, Peter, and Emily. One day, Wolf moves in right next door. Wolf has come from Canada after some trouble with other wolves.
Wolf really wants to eat Rabbit. But his sons, Barry and Simon, become good friends with Rabbit's daughter, Lucy. This makes things tricky for Wolf! The show is all about the funny situations that happen because of this. It shows how the children's friendship changes things for their dads.
Meet the Characters
In this show, the adult characters are named after the animals they are. The children have more common names.
- Rabbit (Voiced by Robert Lindsay) – Rabbit is smart and quick-witted. He is very confident. Many funny moments come from his arguments with Wolf and Fox. Rabbit is a single dad to Lucy, Peter, and Emily. He is tall and wears blue trousers, red shoes, a white shirt, and a flowery jacket.
- Lucy (Voiced by Doon Mackichan) – Lucy is Rabbit's oldest child. She is calm and often seems smarter than her dad. She is good friends with Barry and Simon. This is true even though their fathers don't get along.
- Peter and Emily – These are Rabbit's youngest children. They are twin babies. Because they are so young, they do not speak in any of the episodes.
- Wolf (Voiced by Michael McShane) – Wolf moved to England from Canada. He lives next door to Rabbit. Wolf is not very smart and can be clumsy. But sometimes he has brilliant ideas. He often works with Fox to try and catch Rabbit. Wolf is also a single dad to Barry and Simon. He can get very angry when he plans to hunt. Wolf is tall and wears a red shirt, black pants, a jacket, and special shoes.
- Simon (Voiced by Patrick McKenna) – Simon is Wolf's oldest son. He is smarter than his brother Barry. However, Simon is not super bright himself.
- Barry (Voiced by Seán Cullen) – Barry is Wolf's youngest son. He is kind-hearted but not very smart. He has a small crush on Lucy.
- Fox (Voiced by Simon Callow) – Fox is Wolf's fancy friend. He sometimes talks to himself. Like Wolf, Fox is an enemy of Rabbit. He often tries to eat Rabbit. Fox can be very clever when he plans to catch Rabbit. But Rabbit usually finds a way to stop his plans. Fox wears a white shirt, a yellow vest, and dark pants.
- Terrapin (Voice by Tim McInnerny) – Terrapin is Rabbit's best friend. He is usually very scared. But sometimes he shows a lot of courage. His twin brother, Colin, looks just like him, but has a mustache. Terrapin wears a special water suit and flippers.
- Bear (Voiced by Simon Callow) – Bear is Lucy's trusted friend and advisor. He is often seen painting. Barry and Simon are scared of him. But he has a very kind personality. Rabbit and Terrapin are also a bit scared of him.
- Sheep – These sheep are often the target of Wolf's hungry plans. He tries to catch them for his meals.
