Donari Braxton (born November 11, 1982) is an American filmmaker and writer who creates unique movies and stories. His films are often called experimental, which means they try out new and creative ways of telling a story that you might not see in a typical Hollywood movie.
Even though his films are artistic, they have been shown at film festivals and reviewed by art critics all over the world. Besides movies, Braxton also creates performance art and video art for art galleries. He even started a project called "how-to-be-alone.com" in 2013 to share his photo and video art for free online.
Many important groups have supported his work, including NPR, the San Francisco Film Society, and the Sundance Institute.

Career in Writing and Film
Early Success in Writing
In 2006, Braxton published his first book, a collection of short stories called I. The book was a big hit with critics. It was seen as part of a new, creative style of writing.
Starting a Production Company
In 2010, Braxton teamed up with Takeshi Fukunaga to start a production company. They first called it "FX-S" and later changed the name to "TELEVISION." Their company has made videos for famous brands like HBO, Puma, and Marc Jacobs.
Major Film Projects
In 2015, Braxton's first full-length movie, Out of My Hand, was shown at the Berlin International Film Festival. It was later released in theaters by a company owned by famous director Ava DuVernay. For his work as the writer and producer of the film, Braxton was nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award.
In 2016, the San Francisco Film Society announced it would support Braxton's next movie, a science-fiction story called Above. He received a special grant to help him write the screenplay.

Braxton was born in New York City. His father is Anthony Braxton, a famous experimental musician who can play many instruments. Like his father, Donari is a very skilled chess player and is considered a chessmaster.
