Dongen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdɔŋə(n)]) is a municipality and village in the southern Netherlands. It is located in the province of North Brabant. In the past, Dongen was well-known for its successful leather industry. You can still see some old shoe factories in the older parts of the town.
The town is near a small river called the Donge. The water from this river was used a lot for the leather industry. An interesting historical fact is that the Aerts automobile was built here in 1899.
