Donna Miller (born Donna Lynne Black on September 7, 1965) is an American politician. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Since December 2018, she has served as a Cook County commissioner. She represents the 6th district on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. This board helps run the government for Cook County, Illinois, one of the largest counties in the United States.

Early Life and Education
Donna Miller was born on September 7, 1965. She grew up mostly in the city of Chicago.
She went to Ogden Elementary School and later graduated from Lane Technical High School in 1983. After high school, she attended Howard University, a famous university in Washington, D.C. In 1987, she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. Later, in 1992, she took more business classes at Pepperdine University.
Career Before Politics
Before becoming a politician, Donna Miller worked for many years in the healthcare industry. She was a healthcare consultant and an account specialist. She gained a lot of experience working with companies that develop medicines and medical technology.
Miller was also very active in her community. She served on the board of a major healthcare organization focused on women's health. She also worked with the American Heart Association as a Director of Multi-Cultural Markets.
She volunteered her time to help many other groups, including:
- The Christian Community Health Center
- Jobs for Youth and the MIKVA Challenge, where she was a mentor for young people
- The Alliance of Illinois State Dental Society
- Illinois Democratic Women, where she served as vice-president
Miller also worked with U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly on a healthcare task force. In 2016, she supported Hillary Clinton's campaign for president.
Political Career
2012 State Senate Campaign
In 2012, Miller decided to run for a seat in the Illinois State Senate. She wanted to represent the 15th district. She ran in the Democratic primary election. A primary is an election where voters from the same political party choose their candidate for the main election.
Her opponents were Napoleon Harris, a businessman and former NFL football player, and Patricia Mahon. Miller received support from several large groups, including teachers' unions. In the end, Napoleon Harris won the primary and later the main election.
Cook County Commissioner
In 2018, Miller ran for a seat on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. The person holding the seat, Edward Moody, decided not to run for a full term.
In the Democratic primary, Miller's opponents were Patricia Joan Murphy and Lou Presta. Miller received endorsements from major newspapers like the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times. She was also supported by several members of Congress, including Danny K. Davis and Robin Kelly.
Miller won the primary election. She then won the main election in November 2018 without any opponents. She was elected to a second term in 2022 and continues to serve the people of Cook County's 6th district.
Personal Life
In 2001, she married Dr. David E. Miller. Her husband also served in politics as an Illinois state representative for ten years.
They have two sons, Daniel and Donovan. The family lives in Lynwood, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
