History of Donovan
Donovan was officially started in the year 1872. The village was named after the Donovan family, who were important local residents in the area at that time.
Geography of Donovan
Donovan is found in the northeastern part of Iroquois County. A major road, U.S. Route 52, runs right through the village. This road connects Donovan to other towns. For example, it goes about 30 miles (48 km) west and north to Kankakee. It also goes about 14 miles (23 km) southeast to Kentland, Indiana.
The village is quite small in size. It covers a total area of about 0.33 square miles (0.85 square kilometers). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large bodies of water within the village limits.
