Doodle Do facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Doodle Do was a fun British television programme made especially for young children. It was shown on the CBeebies channel from 2006 to 2010. The show featured three cool puppet characters called "Dib-Dab", "Scribble", and "Stick". They worked with a human presenter named Chris, played by Chris Corcoran. The first episode aired on January 30, 2006, and the show was also seen internationally on Disney Channel’s pre-school block, Playhouse Disney, in the United States.

About Doodle Do

The Puppets and How They Work

Dib-Dab, Scribble, and Stick are special puppets made from colorful knitted gloves. They have eyes, noses, and hair. Three puppeteers make them move. These puppeteers stay hidden behind parts of the TV set, like curtains or boxes. Sometimes they even work from under the raised floor! One episode was filmed in a French ski resort called 'Les Deux Alpes'.

What Happens in the Show?

Doodle Do was a creative show that taught kids how to make things. It was a bit like another show called SMarteenies, but for even younger viewers. Chris and the puppets would explore how to make models from boxes or simple collages.

Each episode often included a story or a game. During these, the puppets would pretend to be different characters using the items they had just created.

Doodle Do and Don't

The show always ended with helpful advice called "Doodle Do" and "Doodle Don't". For example, they might say, "Doodle do: have fun with your model car!" and "Doodle don't: forget to tidy up afterwards!" This taught kids good habits while being creative.

Quick Making Moments

There were also shorter, 5-minute parts of the show called "Doodle Do Making Moments". These mini-episodes focused on just one craft project. They didn't have a big story, just quick, fun ideas for making things.

Meet the Characters

The three puppets each had their own unique personality:

  • Dib-Dab (voiced by Yvonne Stone) was super excited and always happy. She cared a lot about others and absolutely loved the color pink! If it looked like someone else might get the pink paper, she would get very sad.
  • Scribble (voiced by Adam Carter) was the funny one. He loved telling jokes and making puns (wordplay).
  • Stick (voiced by Mark Mander) was a bit worried sometimes. He often needed Chris to make him feel better. Stick loved chanting the word "Blob" when he was painting or gluing, almost like he was in a trance!

After showing clips of children making crafts, Dib-Dab, Scribble, and Stick would sit by a treasure chest. The chest would open, and a short animation would play. This animation showed sandworms drawing a new object in each episode.
