Dorchester Bay is a cool part of Boston Harbor in Massachusetts. It's the smallest of three bays in the southern part of the harbor. It touches the neighborhoods of South Boston and Dorchester in Boston, and also the city of Quincy.

Exploring Dorchester Bay

Dorchester Bay is a beautiful area with lots to see and do. It's a key part of the larger Massachusetts Bay. The bay forms the southern edge of the South Boston neighborhood. It also borders the northeast side of the Dorchester neighborhood. On its northern side, it touches the city of Quincy.

Islands and Rivers

  • Thompson Island: This island is located right in Dorchester Bay. It's one of the many Boston Harbor Islands. These islands are a fun place to explore and learn about nature.
  • Neponset River: The Neponset River flows into Dorchester Bay. It enters the bay between south Dorchester and Squantum Point Park in Quincy. Rivers bringing fresh water into bays is a common natural process.

Famous Landmarks

  • John F. Kennedy Library and Museum: On the western side of the bay, you'll find the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. This important building is at the end of the Columbia Point peninsula. It's a place where you can learn about the life of President John F. Kennedy.
  • Day Boulevard: This scenic road runs along the northern shore of Dorchester Bay. It's about 2.6 miles (4.2 km) long. Day Boulevard is part of the Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston. It offers amazing views of the bay and the islands.
