Douglas Marjoribanks Fisher (born in London, England, on September 20, 1941 – died July 9, 2000) was an English actor. He was well-known for playing Larry Simmonds in the TV show Man About the House from 1973 to 1976. He also played Sammy in the film The Stud (1978) and Jim Medhurst in the TV series London's Burning from 1988 to 1993.
Doug Fisher's Early Life
Doug Fisher went to St Edmund Hall, Oxford university. He finished his studies in 1966. He earned a degree in French and Russian languages.
Doug's Acting Career
Doug Fisher played many different characters during his acting career. One of his most famous roles was Larry Simmonds in the ITV comedy show Man About the House. Larry was a fun character who lived in the attic apartment.
He also appeared in the film The Stud in 1978. In this movie, he acted alongside the famous actress Joan Collins.
Doug Fisher was also a regular on the TV series London's Burning. He played Jim Medhurst, who was the father of another character named Kevin Medhurst. He was on the show from 1988 until his character was written out in 1993.
He appeared in many other popular British TV shows. These included Yes Minister, Home to Roost, Sorry!, Goodnight Sweetheart, and Heartbeat. In 1997, he played Stephen Grismal in an episode of Jonathan Creek called The Wrestler's Tomb. His last acting job was in 1999. He played a clergyman in a TV series based on the book Oliver Twist.

In the early 1980s, Doug Fisher had a relationship with actress Susan Penhaligon.
His Later Years
Doug Fisher passed away on July 9, 2000. He was 58 years old. He died from a heart attack.
