Where Does Dousinbury Creek Start and End?

Dousinbury Creek begins its journey in the western part of Laclede County. The very start of the creek, called its headwaters, is found just northeast of a major highway, Interstate 44. This spot is located between the towns of Conway and Phillipsburg.

From its starting point, the creek first flows towards the north. Then, it changes direction and heads west. As it travels, Dousinbury Creek crosses into Dallas County. Along its path, it flows under a few roads, including Missouri Route B (between Earnestville and Long Lane) and Missouri Route JJ.

The creek's journey ends when it joins a larger river called the Niangua River. The place where two rivers meet is called a confluence.

How Did Dousinbury Creek Get Its Name?

The name Dousinbury Creek has an interesting history. It was named after an early settler in the area, a pioneer citizen named Carlos Duesenberry. Over time, the spelling of the creek's name has changed a bit. You might sometimes see it spelled as Dousenburg, Duesenberry, or Dusenberry.
