History of Dover
Dover was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1839. The town got its name from a church nearby that had the same name. A post office has been open in Dover since 1835, helping people send and receive mail for a long time.
A special building called the James M. Dinwiddie House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. This means it is an important historical place.
