History of Driscoll
Driscoll began to grow around 1904. This was when a new railroad line was built through the area. The city was named after a local rancher, Robert Driscoll, Jr.

U.S. Highway 77 (also known as Interstate 69E) runs through Driscoll. When you drive through the city, the speed limit changes from 70 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour. A new bypass for northbound traffic opened in 2021. The southbound lanes of this bypass opened in August 2023.
