Where Does Dry Creek Start and End?
The journey of Dry Creek begins with its headwaters, which are the very first small streams that come together to form the creek. These headwaters are found about three miles northwest of a town called Dillard.
From its start, Dry Creek gently winds its way north. It flows under Route H and Route 49 near Cherryville. The creek then continues past the community of Westover. Finally, Dry Creek meets Huzzah Creek. This meeting point, called a confluence, is just south of Missouri Route 8, about 3.5 miles east of Elayer.
The starting point of the stream is at 37°45′07″N 91°14′19″W / 37.75194°N 91.23861°W. Its ending point, where it joins Huzzah Creek, is at 37°58′27″N 91°12′20″W / 37.97417°N 91.20556°W.
Why Is It Called Dry Creek?
The name Dry Creek might seem a bit strange for a stream. However, it was given this name for a good reason! Along its path, there are parts where the creek appears to be dry on the surface.
