Duane Cooper grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He later moved to California and attended Lakewood High School in Lakewood, California. After high school, he went on to play college basketball. Cooper played for the University of Southern California (USC) from 1987 to 1992. He was a very good player in college. In 1992, he was named to the First-team All-Pac-10. This means he was one of the best players in his college conference.

Playing in the NBA

After his successful college career, Duane Cooper entered the 1992 NBA draft. He was chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers picked him in the second round, as the 36th player overall. Cooper played two years in the NBA. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns.

As a 6-foot-1-inch guard, Cooper played in a total of 88 NBA games. During these games, he averaged 2.3 points per game. After his time in the NBA, Cooper continued his professional basketball career.
