Duncan Russell (born March 12, 1958 – died August 18, 2017) was an English football manager. He was known for leading teams like Mansfield Town and Hucknall Town.

Coaching Successes
Duncan Russell started his career as a football coach. He worked with several teams, helping them improve and win.
His first coaching job was at Derby County. Later, he moved to Walsall, where he helped the team get promoted to a higher league in 2001.
He also helped Wolverhampton Wanderers get promoted in 2003. At MK Dons, his team not only got promoted but also won the Football League Trophy in 2008. This was a big achievement!
After that, he joined Blackburn Rovers. During his time as a coach, Duncan Russell worked with some famous English football players, including Matthew Le Tissier and Paul Gascoigne.
Becoming a Manager
In May 2010, Duncan Russell became the assistant manager at Mansfield Town. When the main manager left, Duncan took over as the temporary manager. Soon after, he became the permanent manager of the team.
His time as Mansfield Town's manager ended after the 2010/11 season. His last game with Mansfield Town was a very important one. It was the FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium on May 7, 2011. Sadly, Mansfield lost the game 1-0 to Darlington in extra time.
On May 30, 2013, Duncan Russell was appointed manager of Hucknall Town. However, he left the club less than six weeks later. He decided to leave because he didn't want to manage a team that was dropping down two leagues.
Duncan Russell's Passing
Duncan Russell passed away on August 18, 2017, at the age of 59. He died in a hospice in Derby after a short battle with cancer.
