The Lestes concinnus is a type of damselfly often called the dusky spreadwing. It belongs to the Lestidae family, also known as the spreadwings. They get this name because they usually rest with their wings spread out, not folded back like some other damselflies.

This damselfly is a traveler! You can find it in many places, from India and Southeast Asia all the way to New Caledonia and northern parts of Australia.

Dusky spreadwings are medium-sized. An adult is about 40 millimeters (about 1.5 inches) long. Their wings can spread out to about 45 millimeters (about 1.7 inches). They are mostly dusky-grey on their backs. Their sides and undersides are a pretty light bluish-green color. In Australia, they live in suitable wet places across the north, from Broome to the border of south-eastern Queensland.

You can spot these damselflies near freshwater. They like places like river lagoons, ponds, and swamps. We don't know exactly how many there are, but they live across a very wide area. Scientists have not found any major threats to this species. Because of this, it is listed as a least-concern species on the IUCN Red List. This means it's not currently in danger of disappearing.
