Dylan Joseph Rieder was born in Westminster, California. His father, Joe Rieder, was a barber, and his mother was Dana Webb. Dylan grew up with his younger sister, Makenna.
Skateboarding Career Highlights
Dylan started skateboarding when he was nine years old. He became a professional skateboarder at 18. His amazing skills were first seen in the 2006 video A Time To Shine by Transworld Skateboarding. In the same year, he was named "Am of the Year" by The Skateboard Mag.

Modeling and Fashion Influence
Beyond skateboarding, Dylan was also known in the fashion world. In 2014, he appeared in an ad campaign for DKNY. He was featured alongside famous models like Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn. He also appeared in Vogue magazine, showing off designs by Alexander Wang. The magazine GQ even called him "The Skateboarder who changed fashion forever." The Hunt Store
Dylan also had a business venture. He owned a store called "the Hunt" with his friends and fellow skateboarders, Jake Lamagno and Steven Ditchkus. The store was in New York City and sold unique furniture and interesting items. It later moved to Canal Street in downtown Manhattan.
Illness and Passing
In July 2014, Dylan was diagnosed with leukemia, a type of cancer. He bravely fought the illness. In March 2015, he received a bone marrow transplant from his sister. He went into remission, meaning the cancer seemed to be gone. However, the cancer returned later that year. He received a second transplant from his sister and went into remission again. Sadly, the cancer returned one more time.
Dylan Rieder passed away on October 12, 2016, due to complications from his illness. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Many celebrities and fellow skateboarders shared their sadness and memories of Dylan. Tony Hawk, Cara Delevingne, and Ozzy Osbourne were among those who remembered him as an inspiration and a kind person.
The Skateboard Mag honored Dylan, saying he was "one of the best to ever step on a skateboard." His memorial was held at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where friends and family gathered. Some of his ashes were later spread into the ocean in Hawaii.
