Shon Adams, known by his stage name E-A-Ski, is an American rapper and music producer from Oakland, California. He is known for both his own music and for producing hit songs for other artists. He worked with No Limit Records early in his career, making beats for Master P and releasing his own songs.
E-A-Ski's Music Journey
Starting Out: 1990-1995
In the early 1990s, E-A-Ski joined Master P's record label, No Limit Records. In 1992, he released his first music collection, an EP (Extended Play) called 1 Step Ahead of Yall. He worked on this with his friend and fellow artist, DJ CMT.
Later, E-A-Ski left No Limit Records and signed with Priority Records. In 1995, he released another EP, also titled Blast If I Have To. The main song from this EP, "Blast If I Have To," was also featured on the soundtrack for the movie Friday.
Challenges with Earthquake: 1997-1998
After leaving Priority Records, E-A-Ski signed with Relativity Records in 1997. He released a song called "Showdown" from his planned first album, Earthquake. This song featured singer Montell Jordan.
In 1998, E-A-Ski moved to Dreamworks Records, hoping they would help promote Earthquake more quickly. He then released another song from the album, "25 With A Mill Ticket." However, the album Earthquake was never officially released at that time. E-A-Ski later had a disagreement with DreamWorks about the album's release.
New Beginnings: The Resume (2001-2010)
E-A-Ski signed with Columbia Records in 1996 and began working on a new album called Apply Pressure. In 2002, he released two songs from this project: "Manuscript" and "Gangsta Funk." However, the album's release faced delays.
By 2003, E-A-Ski decided to become fully independent with his own label, IMG. He continued to release singles, including "Can't Get Enough" in 2003, "Ride" in 2004, and "MyBad" in 2005. Finally, on September 7, 2010, E-A-Ski released his first official album, The Resume. This was his first album in 15 years.
Current Projects: The Fifth Of Skithoven (2010-Present)
Soon after The Resume came out, E-A-Ski announced in an interview that he was already working on another new album. This one was titled The Fifth Of Skithoven.
He continued to release new music, including singles like "Off The Radar" in 2012, featuring King T and Young Maylay. Later that year, he released "Cruise Control." In 2013, he put out "That Ain't No Heat" with Messy Marv and "Ratchet Music." In 2014, he released "They Know." More recently, in 2015, he released "Wake Em Up," which featured popular artists Tech N9ne and Too $hort.
