E. C. Coleman Jr. (born September 25, 1950) is a retired American basketball player. He was known for his strong defensive skills during his time in the NBA.
Coleman was born in Flora, Mississippi. He played college basketball for Houston Baptist University from 1969 to 1973. After college, he joined the professional basketball world.
NBA Career Highlights
E. C. Coleman was chosen by the Houston Rockets in the 1973 NBA draft. He was the 51st player picked overall. He played for several teams during his NBA career, including the Houston Rockets, the New Orleans Jazz, and the Golden State Warriors. He played a total of 357 games in the NBA.
Defensive Star
Coleman was especially recognized for his excellent defense. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in the 1976–77 season. This means he was considered one of the best defensive players in the entire league that year. The very next season, 1977–78, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. These honors show how important he was to his teams' defense.
During his career, Coleman scored 2,553 points, grabbed 2,151 rebounds, and made 472 assists. He retired from professional basketball in 1978.
