Ennajie Cruz "EJ" Laure-Cariño (born July 31, 1997) is a talented Filipino volleyball player. She plays as an outside hitter, which means she is one of the main attackers on the team. Currently, she plays for the Nxled Chameleons. EJ was also a member and former captain of the UST Golden Tigresses volleyball team. She even played for the Philippine national team in the past.
EJ's Volleyball Journey
High School Success
EJ Laure showed her skills early on. She led the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Girls Volleyball Team to a championship. This was in Season 76 of the UAAP Juniors Volleyball tournament. During that season, she was named the best attacker and the most valuable player (MVP). She also won the Best Server award in Season 74. In Season 75, she was recognized as the Best Receiver.
College Career Highlights
EJ started her college volleyball career with the UST Golden Tigresses. She joined them as a guest player in the Shakey's V-League 11th Season 1st Conference. UST reached the semi-finals, and EJ received the Best Scorer Award. After this great start, she played for UST in UAAP Season 77. She was named Rookie of the Year, which is a big honor for a first-year player.
In her second year, EJ and UST played in the Shakey's V-League 12th Season Collegiate Conference. UST finished fourth, and EJ won the 2nd Best Open Hitter Award. For UAAP Season 78, EJ became the team captain. Later in 2016, she led the UST Golden Tigresses in the Shakey's V-League 13th Season Reinforced Open Conference. Her team was the only college team to reach the semi-finals, finishing fourth. She again won the 2nd Best Open Hitter Award. They also won the championship at UNIGAMES 2016.
UAAP Achievements
EJ led the Golden Tigresses to a third-place finish in UAAP Season 79. This was their first time in the Final Four in four years. She was the league's third-best scorer, eighth-best spiker, and fifth-best digger. EJ, along with her teammate Rondina, won back-to-back championships at the 2017 University Games.
Unfortunately, EJ had a shoulder injury during UAAP Season 80. This injury kept her from playing until Season 82 in 2020.
Professional Club Play
EJ started playing semi-professional volleyball with the Foton Tornadoes in 2016. Her team finished as a runner-up in the 2016 PSL All-Filipino Conference. They then won the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix Conference title in the same year. As a champion with Foton Tornadoes, EJ also played in international club tournaments. She was awarded 1st Best Open Hitter in the 2017 PSL All-Filipino Conference. Her team also won a bronze medal in the 2017 PSL Grand Prix Conference.
International Experience
EJ was part of the Philippine youth team. They played in the 2015 Asian Women's U23 Volleyball Championship. This important tournament was held in Pasig, Philippines.
Premier Volleyball League Teams
After the Foton Tornadoes team changed its name to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in 2021, EJ continued to play for them. She stayed with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers until 2024. In 2024, she moved to her current team, the Nxled Chameleons.
