Exploring Eagle Valley
Eagle Valley is located along the Snake River and its smaller rivers (called tributaries). It's part of Baker County, very close to the border with Idaho.
Towns and Communities
The biggest town in Eagle Valley is Richland. Other small communities in the area include New Bridge and Sparta. These places are called "unincorporated," meaning they don't have their own local government like a city does.
Nature and Climate
The valley is quite separate from other areas, located southeast of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. It's also different from the nearby Pine Valley.
Eagle Valley has a special climate, similar to a Mediterranean climate. This means it has warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. This kind of weather helps farmers and ranchers because it allows for a long growing season for their crops and animals.
Local Traditions
The town of Richland is famous for its "Eagle Valley Day Festival." This fun event is named after the valley itself and brings people together to celebrate the community.
Getting Around
Oregon Route 86 is a main road that goes through the valley. It connects Baker City to Richland, and then continues on to Halfway.
