The East Branch Saco River is a cool river that flows for about 13.2 miles (21.2 km) through the beautiful White Mountains in New Hampshire, United States. It's like a smaller stream that joins a bigger river called the Saco River. The Saco River then travels all the way to the Atlantic Ocean in Maine.

Where the River Starts

The East Branch Saco River begins high up in the mountains. Its source is near the northern edge of Jackson, New Hampshire. This area is south of the Wild River. It's also east of Black Mountain. You can find it southwest of the Baldface mountains.

The River's Journey

From its start, the river flows south. It travels through the White Mountain National Forest. This part of the forest is often used for logging. Logging means cutting down trees for wood.

After leaving the forest, the river enters the town of Bartlett. It then reaches its end point. This is where it joins the main Saco River. This meeting point is in Lower Bartlett village. It's just a little bit downstream from where the Ellis River also joins the Saco.
