East Central Penobscot is an unorganized territory in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 308 at the 2020 census.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the unorganized territory has a total area of 115.8 square miles (299.9 km²), of which 114.5 square miles (296.5 km²) is land and 1.3 square miles (3.4 km²), or 1.12%, is water.

The territory consists of three townships: Summit, Grand Falls, and Greenfield.

As of the census of 2000, there were 324 people, 126 households, and 84 families residing in the unorganized territory. The population density was 2.8 people per square mile (1.1/km2). There were 291 housing units at an average density of 2.5/sq mi (1.0/km2). The racial makeup of the unorganized territory was 98.77% White, 0.62% Native American, and 0.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.62% of the population.

There were 126 households, out of which 37.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.4% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% were non-families. 24.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.07.

In the unorganized territory the population was spread out, with 28.4% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 36.1% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
