East Pleasanton, once known as East Pleasanton Siding, is a small community in Alameda County, California. It's not an official city, but rather an unincorporated community. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. East Pleasanton is located about 2.25 miles (3.6 km) east-northeast of the city of Pleasanton. It sits at an elevation of 384 feet (117 meters) above sea level.

East Pleasanton has a type of weather called a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. This is often shortened to "Csb" on climate maps. In this kind of climate, the summers are warm or hot and very dry. The average monthly temperatures usually stay below 71.6°F (22°C). This climate is common in places like California, where you get sunny, dry summers and mild, wet winters.
How Has East Pleasanton Been Planned?
In 2012, the land in the East Pleasanton area was used for a few different things. There was a recycling center and a place where the city's operations services were located. Some materials were also stored on a property called Kiewit. The area also included three old quarry lakes and some empty land.
Why Did Planning Start?
Planning for the future of East Pleasanton began in July 2012. The City Council created a special group called the East Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force. Their job was to suggest how the land, especially the old quarry property, should be used in the future.
Why Did Planning Stop?
Three years later, in June 2015, the City Council decided to stop working on the East Pleasanton Specific Plan. They had several concerns. There was an ongoing drought, which meant less water was available. They were also worried about how new developments would affect traffic and if local schools would have enough space for more students. The council wanted to make sure that any growth in the area happened at a careful pace. They decided that any future decision to restart the planning process would be discussed during their regular city council meetings.
