Eastatoe Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the western part of North Carolina, United States. It is found near the town of Rosman. This amazing waterfall is on land owned by private citizens.

The Journey of Shoal Creek
Shoal Creek is a stream that begins its journey high up in the Pisgah National Forest. It starts between two mountains called Nancy Mountain and Burnt Mountain, close to a spot known as the Eastatoe Gap.
As the creek flows, it drops more than 200 feet over about a quarter of a mile. This exciting journey ends at Eastatoe Falls. Here, the water tumbles down a series of drops, each about 60 feet high, over strong granite rocks. After leaving the falls, Shoal Creek continues to flow. It eventually joins with other smaller streams to form the Middle Fork French Broad River.
A Look at Eastatoe Falls' History
The name Eastatoe comes from a local, historic Cherokee town. It was also the Cherokee word for the Carolina parakeet, a type of bird. Over the years, the ownership of the falls has changed many times. Because of this, the waterfall has had several different names. Some of its past names include Will Hines Falls, Shoal Creek Falls, and Rosman Falls.
Visiting Eastatoe Falls
Eastatoe Falls is located on private property. This means the land belongs to individuals, not the public. In the past, the owners allowed people to visit the falls. However, since late 2019, the falls have been renamed Shoal Creek Falls. It is no longer open for public visits.
