The Eastern Land Division is a huge area of land in Western Australia, one of the largest states in Australia. It's like a big section of land used for keeping records and managing property. This division covers parts of the Goldfields–Esperance and Pilbara regions. Most of this land is covered by vast deserts, including parts of the Great Sandy Desert, Gibson Desert, and Great Victoria Desert.

A Look Back: How the Eastern Land Division Was Formed

The Eastern Land Division was first created a long time ago, on 2 March 1887. This was part of a big change to how land was divided up in Western Australia.

Changes Over Time

Later, on 28 March 1917, another land area called the Central Land Division became part of the Eastern Land Division. This made the Eastern Land Division even bigger! The borders of this land division were last updated on 30 March 1998.

Before the Trans-Australian Railway was built in 1917, the Eastern Land Division didn't have any smaller districts. This was because it was mostly covered by the Great Victoria Desert and Great Sandy Desert, which are very remote.

Smaller Sections: Land Districts

The Eastern Land Division is divided into 40 smaller areas called land districts. These districts help manage the land more easily.
