easyFoodstore was a special kind of supermarket in London, England. It was part of the easyGroup family of companies. This supermarket was known for selling food and household items at very low prices.

What Was easyFoodstore?

easyFoodstore was a unique supermarket that aimed to make basic food items affordable for everyone. It was different from regular supermarkets because it focused on selling essential items at a very low cost.

How Did easyFoodstore Start?

The idea for easyFoodstore was first announced in 2013 by Stelios Haji-Ioannou, who founded the easyGroup. The first and only easyFoodstore opened its doors in February 2016. It was located in London, right next to the main office of easyBus.

What Made It Special?

easyFoodstore had a simple approach to selling groceries. It did not sell well-known brands. Instead, it offered about 100 basic items. These included things like tinned goods, pasta, rice, and cleaning products.

When it first opened, many items cost just 25 pence each. This was a very low price for essential food. The store became very popular, very quickly. In fact, it ran out of stock just days after opening. Because of this, it had to close temporarily.

When it reopened, the prices for most items went up to 50 pence. However, easyFoodstore still offered special deals where items would return to 25 pence.

Why Did easyFoodstore Close?

The easyFoodstore was a trial store, meaning it was opened to see if the idea would work. The single store closed down in late 2021.
