Music Career
How Ebony Bones Started in Music
Ebony Bones was given her stage name by Rat Scabies. He was the drummer for the band The Damned. She is famous for her exciting performances and cool costumes on stage. In 2011, she opened for Cee Lo Green's tour across the UK and Europe.
Ebony Bones started as a self-taught musician. She first shared her music anonymously on a blank Myspace page. Rat Scabies encouraged her to produce her own songs. She wanted to create her own sound. She didn't want anyone else telling her what it should be.
Her First Album and Success
Ebony Bones writes and produces all her own music. Her song "We Know All About U" was first played on BBC Radio 1. DJ Zane Lowe called it "The Hottest Record in the World Today." It was also named "Single of the Week." This song talked about a society where everyone is watched. It became Radio 1's most played song by an artist who wasn't signed to a record label.
Her first album, Bone of My Bones, was released in 2009. Critics really liked it. The album included popular songs like "W.A.R.R.I.O.R" and "Guess We'll Always Have NY." These songs were later used in campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent. They were also featured in the EA Sports FIFA 11 video game soundtrack.
Performing Around the World
In 2010, Ebony Bones was asked to perform live at big events. She played at the Shanghai World Trade Show Expo 2010. She also performed at Central Park SummerStage in New York. Another performance was at The Grand Palais in Paris for SFR live concerts. In 2011, she showed new songs from her second album. This happened at The Cannes Film Festival and the T-Mobile International Film Festival.
Her Second Album and Own Record Label
In 2013, Bones released her second album, Behold, A Pale Horse. She got some ideas for this album while traveling in India. The album featured the Symphony Orchestra of India. It also included a cover of a song by The Smiths. Behold, A Pale Horse received great reviews from music magazines like The Independent and Spin.
Ebony Bones decided to start her own record label called "1984 Records." She has released most of her music through this label. This includes her EP (Extended Play) titled "Bread & Circus Pt. 1." She later released another EP, Milk & Honey, Pt. 1, in October 2015.
Collaborations and Latest Work
In 2015, Bones worked with the famous artist Yoko Ono. They collaborated on Ono's remix album Yes, I'm A Witch Too. Ebony Bones remixed an older song called "No Bed For Beatle John."
In July 2018, she released her third album, Nephilim. PopMatters magazine gave it a high rating. They said it showed how much Ebony Bones had grown as an artist.
