Ebrahim Abadi (born August 15, 1934 – died October 31, 2019) was a famous Iranian actor. He performed in many plays and movies. Some of his well-known works include the films Mokhtarnameh, On Tiptoes, Dar Chashm-e Baad and Grand Cinema.

About Ebrahim Abadi

Ebrahim Abadi was born in Tabriz, Iran, on August 15, 1934. He went to school in Tabriz for his early years. Later, he finished high school in Tehran.

His Acting Journey

During high school, Ebrahim became very interested in acting. He joined theatre classes at the fine arts school. These classes were taught by foreign teachers. After a year, he went to an art school. He studied under famous professors like Ali Asghar Garmori. He then traveled to Prague, Czechoslovakia, to continue his studies. Five years later, he graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts. He also worked in professional theatres there.

After 14 years, Ebrahim Abadi returned to Iran. He started working in theatre and show programs. He spent time working in different cities. He lived for 7 years in Urmia, 1 year in Gorgan, and 8 years in Tabriz. In each of these cities, he started acting classes and theatre groups. Thanks to his efforts, these new groups created almost 60 plays. Ebrahim Abadi retired from theatre in 1993.

He also helped organize theatre festivals many times. He was one of the main people behind the Martyrs Mehreb Festival in Tabriz for four years. He also taught intense theatre courses to participants. Ebrahim Abadi was a member of the main council for Iranian Cinema Actors. He also served as a reviewer for Iranian films four times.

His Family Life

Ebrahim Abadi married Maliheh Ebrahimi when he was young. They had five children together. Maliheh Ebrahimi was also an actress. She was born in Tabriz in 1930. She studied acting in Prague, just like Ebrahim. She started acting in plays and later in movies. Her first film was Diamond 33 in 1967.

  • He began his work in cinema (movies) in 1984. His first film was Pilgrim Khalaf.

Besides his theatre work, he acted in many films and TV series. Some of his well-known movies include Smell of Kafur, Yas Perfume, Tokyo Without Stopping, and 100 Years to These Years. On television, he was famous for series like Mokhtarnameh, Powerchin, 10th Night, and Lost Innocence.

His Later Years

Ebrahim Abadi became ill in October 2019. He was in a coma in a hospital in Tehran. He had several surgeries. Sadly, he passed away on October 31, 2019.
