Edward Robert Kavalee, born on 30 June 1979, is a well-known Australian comedian, actor, writer, and presenter for radio and television. He is also a podcaster and comments on football games. Many people know him from the TV show Have You Been Paying Paying Attention? on Network 10, where he is a regular guest alongside Sam Pang.

Ed Kavalee has hosted several radio shows, including Hughesy, Ed & Erin and Ash, Grant & Ed on 2Day FM. He also hosted the breakfast show Marto, Ed & Robin on Triple M Brisbane. On television, he hosted TV Burp and other funny sports shows with Santo Cilauro and Sam Pang.

Ed Kavalee's Career Journey

Ed Kavalee has a lot of experience in Theatresports, which is a type of improvisational theatre. He used to help run workshops and host Theatresports events at universities. Before becoming famous on radio, Ed worked in a small video store for over eight years starting when he was just fourteen. He also worked behind the scenes at Triple M radio, helping with promotions.

Ed studied at Screenwise, a film and TV school. Just three months before he finished, he got a part in the comedy show Thank God You're Here. This show was special because it was all improvised, meaning the actors made up their lines on the spot. Ed appeared in more than 20 episodes and was a key part of the cast for four seasons.

Radio Adventures

In 2006, Ed joined comedians Tony Martin and Richard Marsland for the Triple M radio show Get This. The show was very popular and had funny sketches, celebrity guests, and discussions about interesting facts and news. Even after the show ended in 2007, many fans, including English comedian Ross Noble, said it was their favorite radio show.

After Get This, Ed joined The Wrong Way Home on the Nova Network in 2008. In 2009, he became the anchor for Nova 100's Hughesy & Kate breakfast show. He left Nova 100 in December 2011 to focus more on TV and film projects.

In January 2014, Ed joined Triple M Brisbane's The Grill Team breakfast show. He also became a regular guest on the Network Ten comedy quiz show Have You Been Paying Attention? with Sam Pang. In October 2017, Ed announced he was leaving the Triple M Brisbane show to spend more time with his family, especially after his son was born.

Later in 2017, Ed joined Em Rusciano and Grant Denyer to host the breakfast show on 2Day FM. This show, called Em, Grant & Ed (and later Ash, Grant & Ed), finished in August 2019. Ed then temporarily joined the national afternoon show Hughesy & Kate until the end of 2019.

From January 2021, Ed co-hosted The 2Day FM Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin Molan with Dave Hughes and Erin Molan. This show aired until August 2024, when Southern Cross Austereo announced a new direction for 2Day FM.

Television Appearances

In 2009, Ed hosted TV Burp on the Seven Network, which was based on a popular UK show. He also co-hosted Santo, Sam and Ed's Cup Fever! on SBS TV in 2010, which was a fun show about the FIFA World Cup. Ed reunited with Tony Martin for The Joy of Sets on the Nine Network in 2011, a comedy series that looked at how TV shows are made.

In 2012, Ed appeared in the Australian film Any Questions for Ben?. He also co-hosted Santo, Sam and Ed's Sports Fever! on the Seven network. He was a regular guest on the TV show Agony Uncles. Ed also worked on the comedy film Scumbus, where he starred, co-wrote, and co-produced it. This film was about two police officers and was made very quickly. It received good reviews and was shown at the Los Angeles Comedy Festival.

Ed also wrote, directed, and co-produced his second film, Border Protection Squad, which is a comedy making fun of TV shows like Border Security. This film became available to download in 2015.
