Edward Charles Nimmervoll (born September 21, 1947 – died October 10, 2014) was an Australian writer and historian who loved music. He spent his career writing about and documenting the history of Australian rock and pop music.
Ed worked on famous music magazines like Go-Set and Juke Magazine. He started as a writer and later became an editor. He also helped create HowlSpace, a website all about Australian music history.
In 2014, Ed Nimmervoll was honored for his work. He was added to the Music Victoria Hall of Fame. This award celebrates people who have made a big difference in the music world.

Early Life and Music Magazines
Ed Nimmervoll was born in Austria in 1947. His family moved to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in 1956. He later went to university to study architecture.
But his true passion was music. In 1966, while still at university, he started writing for Go-Set. This was Australia's very first national pop music magazine.
Ed began by putting together the national top 40 music chart each week. He also wrote reviews of new songs and albums. By 1973, he became the editor of Go-Set.
After Go-Set closed in 1974, Ed started a new magazine called Juke. It was published every week from 1975 until 1992. He also helped create Take 40 Australia, which was a radio show like American Top 40 but for Australian music.
Author and Music Expert
Ed Nimmervoll wrote, co-wrote, or edited many books about music. One of his well-known books is Friday on my mind: a year by year account of popular music in the Australian charts, published in 2003. This book looked at popular music in Australia year by year.
He also wrote biographies for the website Allmusic. These biographies covered many Australian artists and bands. He wrote about famous country music singer Slim Dusty and the rock band Grinspoon.
Ed even helped write songs! He co-wrote "Red-Headed Wild Flower" with Beeb Birtles. This song appeared on the Little River Band album Sleeper Catcher.
