Edward Ford Weber (born July 26, 1931) is an American politician from Ohio. He served one term in the United States House of Representatives as a Republican. This means he was a member of the U.S. Congress, helping to make laws for the country.
Edward Weber's Early Life and Learning
Edward Weber was born in Toledo, Ohio. He went to Denison University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Later, he studied law at Harvard Law School and received a law degree. After finishing his studies, Weber joined the United States Army and served for two years.
His Time in Politics
After leaving the Army in 1958, Edward Weber started working as a lawyer. In 1966, he became a professor at the University of Toledo College of Law. He taught law to students there.
In 1980, Weber decided to run for a seat in the United States House of Representatives. He wanted to represent Ohio's 9th congressional district. He ran against Thomas L. Ashley, who had been in that job for 26 years. Weber won the election. This was partly because Ronald Reagan won many votes in Lucas County, where Toledo is located.
In 1982, Edward Weber ran for re-election but lost his seat to Marcy Kaptur.
