Eddie Rush facts for kids

Eddie F. Rush (born September 19, 1961) is a professional basketball referee. He worked in the National Basketball Association (NBA). By the end of the 2006–07 NBA season, he had been a referee for 1,245 regular season games. He also officiated 140 playoff games. This included nine NBA Finals games, which are the championship games.
Early Life and Education
Eddie Rush grew up in Columbus, Georgia. He went to W.H. Spencer High School there. While in high school, he enjoyed playing both basketball and baseball. After finishing high school, he went to college. He graduated from Georgia State University in 1983.
Becoming an NBA Referee
Before joining the NBA, Eddie Rush gained a lot of experience. He started by working as a referee for high school games for ten years. Then, he moved on to college basketball. He spent eight years officiating games in major college conferences. These included the Big Ten, Southeastern Conference, and Conference USA. He even worked games in the first round of the NCAA Tournaments in 1991 and 1992. After that, he spent five years as a referee in the Continental Basketball Association. This was another professional basketball league.
It's interesting to know that Eddie Rush is not related to another famous NBA referee, Ed T. Rush. He is also not related to the musician named Ed Rush.
Eddie Rush holds a special record in the NBA. He is the only referee to have officiated the very last game of the NBA Finals for four years in a row. This happened from 2005 to 2008.
