Edge is a small, unincorporated community in Brazos County, Texas, United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place with a shared identity but no official local government. In 2000, about 100 people lived there. Edge is part of the larger Bryan-College Station metropolitan area.

History of Edge
Edge was started in the 1870s by a doctor named John Edge. The community was named after him. It was built close to the historic Old San Antonio Road.
Early Days and Growth
Dr. Edge and his two brothers opened the very first store in the community. A post office opened in Edge in 1894. It stayed open until 1957. Between 1896 and 1897, Edge had two churches and eleven businesses.
In 1900, W.H. McMichael opened a general store inside the post office. At that time, there was also a drugstore, and about 25 people lived in Edge. Six years later, in 1906, J.M. Lawless started a cotton gin. This was a machine that separated cotton fibers from their seeds. By 1910, the population of Edge grew to 50 people.
Edge in the Mid-1900s
A map from 1948 showed that Edge had three churches and four businesses. From 1933 all the way through 2000, the population of Edge stayed around 100 people.
Where is Edge Located?
Edge is found on Farm to Market Road 974, near Caney Creek. It is about 14 miles (23 km) north of Bryan. This community is in the northeastern part of Brazos County.
Education in Edge
Edge used to have its own high school. It was open from 1912 until it sadly burned down in 1940. After that, in 1946, students from Edge joined the schools in Kurten. Today, students in the Edge community attend schools that are part of the Bryan Independent School District.
