History of Edmundson
Edmundson started as a neighborhood called "Edmundson Terrace" in 1941. This was just a few days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was one of the first planned neighborhoods in St. Louis County.
On May 12, 1948, Edmundson Terrace officially became a "village" under Missouri law. This meant it had its own local government. By 1965, the village had grown a lot. Its size had tripled or even quadrupled. The population grew to about 2,500 people. It included many single-family homes and apartment buildings.
In 1992, the people of Edmundson voted to change their status. On January 4, 1993, Edmundson officially became a "fourth class city." This change gave the city more power and control over its local affairs.
