Edmilson dos Santos Silva, known simply as Edmilson, is a Brazilian professional football player. He was born on 15 September 1982. Edmilson plays as a striker, which means his main job is to score goals for his team. He currently plays for Sport Recife.

Edmilson's Football Journey: Club Career Highlights

Edmilson started his football career in Brazil with the team Palmeiras. He played there from 2001 to 2003.

Playing in Japan: Albirex Niigata and Urawa Reds

In January 2004, Edmilson moved to Japan. He joined a team called Albirex Niigata in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. He first joined on a loan, but then signed a permanent deal the next year. He was a very important player for Albirex Niigata, scoring 62 goals in four seasons. This made him one of the top scorers for the club.

After his successful time at Albirex Niigata, Edmilson moved to another big Japanese club, Urawa Red Diamonds, in January 2008. He continued to play very well there. In the 2009 season, he scored 17 goals. This made him the second-highest scorer in the entire league that year!

Moving to Qatar and Back to Brazil

On 29 June 2011, Edmilson left Japan to play for Al-Gharafa, a club in Qatar. After his time there, he returned to Brazil. On 25 April 2015, he joined Chapecoense. He has played for several other clubs, including Vasco da Gama and Red Bull Brasil, before joining Sport Recife.
