Carlos Eduardo Marangon, born on February 2, 1963, is a famous former Brazilian football player and manager. He is best known by his nicknames Edu Marangon or simply Edu. He played as a midfielder, a key position in football that connects defense and attack.

Edu Marangon's Football Journey
Edu Marangon started his professional football career in 1984 with a Brazilian club called Portuguesa. He played many games for them, scoring 7 goals in 55 appearances. His talent quickly caught the eye of European clubs.
Playing in Europe
In 1988, Edu moved to Italy to play for Torino in the top league, Serie A. He played 22 games and scored 2 goals there. After a year in Italy, he moved to Portugal to join Porto, another big European club.
Back to Brazil
After his time in Europe, Edu returned to Brazil. He played for several well-known clubs, including Flamengo, Santos, and Palmeiras. He played 54 games for Palmeiras, scoring 9 goals. He also had two different periods playing for Santos.
Playing in Japan
Later in his career, Edu Marangon moved to Japan to play for Yokohama Flügels in the J.League. He spent two years there, from 1993 to 1994. He was a very important player for the team, playing 67 games and scoring 18 goals.
One of his most memorable moments in Japan was on January 1, 1994. In the final of the Emperor's Cup, he scored two goals and helped set up two others! His team won the match 6-2 against Kashima Antlers.
International Career
Edu Marangon also had the honor of playing for the Brazilian national team from 1987 to 1990. He played 9 games for his country and scored 1 goal.
A big highlight of his international career was winning a gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis. He was part of the Brazilian football team that won the competition!
Edu Marangon as a Manager
After retiring as a player, Edu Marangon decided to stay in football as a manager. He started his coaching career in 1999 with Internacional-SP.
Over the years, he managed several other Brazilian clubs. Some of the teams he coached include Paraná Clube in 2003, Juventus (in 2005, 2007, and 2009), and Rio Claro in 2008.
