Carlos Eduardo Marangon (born on February 2, 1963), known to many as Edu Marangon or simply Edu, is a Brazilian football legend. He used to play as a midfielder and later became a manager.
Edu Marangon: A Football Star
Edu Marangon was a talented football player from Brazil. He played for many different teams during his career. He was known for his skills in the midfield.
Playing Days
Edu started his football journey with Portuguesa. He then moved to Italy to play for Torino. After that, he joined Porto in Portugal.
He returned to Brazil and played for big clubs like Flamengo and Santos. Edu also spent time with Palmeiras, where he played 54 games and scored nine goals.
Later in his career, Edu played for two years in Japan with Yokohama Flügels. A special moment was on January 1, 1994. He scored two goals and helped with two others in a big 6-2 win. This victory was in the final of the Emperor's Cup. It was a great achievement for his team.
Edu also represented his country, Brazil. He played 9 games for the national team between 1987 and 1990. He even won a gold medal with Brazil at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis.
Life as a Manager
After retiring as a player, Edu Marangon decided to become a football manager. He started his coaching career in 1999 with Internacional-SP.
He managed several teams in Brazil. Some of the clubs he coached include Paraná Clube in 2003 and Vila Nova in 2004. He also had multiple coaching spells with Juventus-SP in 2005, 2007, and 2009. In 2008, he managed Rio Claro. His career as a manager continued until at least 2010.
