Edward Shaw Hose's Career
Edward Shaw Hose started his career in 1891. He joined the Malayan Civil Service as a junior officer. His first posting was in Perak, a state in what is now Malaysia.
Early Roles and Responsibilities
In 1904, Edward Hose worked for five months in Singapore. He served as a Magistrate, which is like a judge. From 1904 to 1921, he managed many important government departments. These included departments for Food, Labour, and Agriculture.
In 1919, he became the District Officer of Lower Perak. He was also the Director of Food Production in Kuala Lumpur.

In 1921, Edward Hose was given a very important role. He was appointed as the British Resident of Negri Sembilan. A British Resident was a top British advisor. They helped rule the local states.
Later, in 1924, he became the Colonial Secretary of Straits Settlements. This was a very high position. He took over from Sir Frederick Seton James. The Colonial Secretary helped manage the British colonies.

Edward Shaw Hose received a special award in 1924. He was made a Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG). This honor was given to him during the 1924 New Year Honours. It recognized his important work.
