Edwin St. John Greble (born June 24, 1859 – died September 30, 1931) was an important officer in the United States Army. He served in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He took part in big wars like the Spanish–American War and World War I.

About Edwin St. John Greble
Edwin St. John Greble was born on June 24, 1859. His birthplace was West Point, New York. This is where the famous West Point school is located. When Edwin was only two years old, his father, John Trout Greble, sadly died in a battle. Edwin later followed in his father's footsteps. He graduated from West Point himself in 1881.
Early Military Career
After graduating, Greble became an officer in the Second Artillery. He then served in the field artillery, which uses cannons and other large guns. He continued his education at military schools. He graduated from the Infantry and Cavalry School in 1884. Later, in 1892, he finished the Coast Artillery School at Fort Monroe.
From 1885 to 1889, Greble worked as an aide to Oliver Otis Howard. Howard was a well-known general.
Serving in the Spanish-American War
Greble took part in the Spanish–American War. This war happened between the United States and Spain. He served in Cuba from 1898 to 1900. During this time, he had important jobs. He was the Adjutant General of the Second Division. He also helped manage the Department of Havana. He even helped organize the Department of Charities. This department helped people in need. He also oversaw the departure of Spanish forces from buildings.
Later Service and World War I
From 1901 to 1904, Greble taught at West Point. He worked in the Tactics Department. He returned to Cuba in 1906. This was during the Second Occupation of Cuba. He stayed there until 1909. During this time, he was the supervisor of the Secretary of the Interior.
In 1910, Greble served on the General Staff. This is a group of senior officers who help plan military operations. He was also stationed near the border with Mexico. He served there from September 1914 to August 1917.
Greble received promotions during his career. He became a brigadier general on October 13, 1916. Then, he was promoted to major general on August 5, 1917. He commanded the 36th Infantry Division twice in 1917 and 1918.
Greble retired from the army in October 1918. He retired because of health issues he developed while serving.
Life After the Army
After retiring, Greble lived in Washington, D.C.. He passed away in New Jersey on September 30, 1931. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. This is a famous cemetery for military heroes.

Edwin St. John Greble married Gertrude Poland on June 24, 1885. Gertrude was the daughter of General John Scroggs Poland.
