Edyta Śliwińska (born May 6, 1981) is a professional ballroom dancer from Poland. She is famous for being on the American TV show Dancing with the Stars. Edyta appeared in the first ten seasons of the show. She is also known for her stage show called Dance Temptation.

Early Life

Edyta Śliwińska was born in Warsaw, Poland. She grew up in a working-class family. She started taking dance classes when she was 12 years old.

Dancing with the Stars

Edyta Śliwińska was a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars for many seasons. In this show, professional dancers team up with celebrities to compete in ballroom dancing.

In the first season in June 2005, Edyta danced with boxing champion Evander Holyfield. They finished in 5th place in the competition.

For the second season, she was paired with actor George Hamilton. They also finished in 5th place.

In the third season, Edyta's partner was actor Joey Lawrence. They did very well and came in 3rd place. Edyta and Joey also went on the show's first performance tour.

For Season 4, Edyta was first supposed to dance with Vincent Pastore. However, he left the show because the training was too hard for him. John Ratzenberger then became her partner. He had very little time to prepare. Edyta and John finished in 6th place.

In Season 5, Edyta danced with soap opera actor Cameron Mathison. They were eliminated before the semi-finals, finishing in 5th place again.

In Season 6, her partner was NFL player Jason Taylor. They had a great season and won second place. This was Edyta's best result on the show.

In Season 7, Edyta and her partner, comedian Jeffrey Ross, were the first couple voted off. Jeffrey had an eye injury during practice. Later that season, Edyta temporarily danced with Cody Linley. She filled in for his usual partner, Julianne Hough, who was recovering from surgery.

In Season 8, Edyta was paired with NFL player Lawrence Taylor. They were eliminated in the seventh week and finished in 7th place.

For Season 9, Edyta danced with Ashley Hamilton, who is George Hamilton's son. They were the first couple eliminated that season.

For Season 10, Edyta's partner was soap opera star Aiden Turner. They were voted off in the fourth week and finished in 9th place.

Edyta returned to Dancing with the Stars for season 22 in 2016, after being away for many seasons. She was partnered with journalist Geraldo Rivera. They were the first couple to be eliminated in Week 2.

Personal Life

Edyta Śliwińska is married to Alec Mazo, who is also a professional dancer. Alec also competed on Dancing with the Stars and won one season. Edyta and Alec have danced together for many years. They got married on September 1, 2007. Their son, Michael Alexander Mazo, was born on January 4, 2014. On June 18, 2017, they welcomed their second child, a daughter named Leia Josephine.
