Egaña is a small village located in the western part of Uruguay. It is found in the Soriano Department.
Where is Egaña?
Egaña is about 3 kilometers (2 miles) away from Route 3, a main road. It's also about 15 kilometers (9 miles) northwest of José Enrique Rodó. Another town, Palmitas, is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Egaña. A railroad track also runs through the village. This track connects Montevideo, the capital city, to Mercedes and other places further north.

Egaña became an official "Pueblo" (which means village) on May 13, 1971. This change in status was made by a special law, Ley Nº 13.959.
