Egg is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Uster district. It is part of the canton of Zürich in Switzerland.

History of Egg

The town of Egg was first mentioned in old writings way back in the year 775. Back then, it was known by the name Echa.

Egg covers an area of about 14.5 square kilometers (about 5.6 square miles). A large part of this land, about 58%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 23% of the area. The remaining land, about 18%, has buildings and roads. Only a tiny bit, less than 1%, is made up of non-productive areas like rivers or mountains.

The lowest point in Egg is the Greifensee lake, which is 438 meters (1,437 feet) above sea level. The highest point is the Pfannenstiel mountain, reaching 853 meters (2,799 feet) high. Egg is located in the beautiful Pfannenstiel region.

Getting Around Egg
