Egidio Raúl Arévalo Ríos (born January 1, 1982) is a former professional football player from Uruguay. People often called him El Cacha. He played as a defensive midfielder, which means he helped protect his team's goal. He also has Mexican citizenship.

Playing for Clubs
Egidio Arévalo Ríos, also known as El Cacha or sometimes El pequeño gigante (the little giant), started his football journey at the Paysandú Bella Vista youth team. He played for many different clubs throughout his career.
He played for teams like Peñarol in Uruguay and Monterrey in Mexico. He also spent time with Botafogo in Brazil and Tijuana in Mexico.
In 2012, Arévalo Ríos signed with Palermo, a club in Italy. Later, in 2013, he played for Chicago Fire in the United States on loan. He then signed with them permanently for a short time.
After that, he moved back to Mexico to play for Tigres UANL. He was first loaned to Monarcas Morelia. In 2014, Tigres officially signed him. His coach, Ricardo Ferretti, praised him for his dedication. Arévalo Ríos started training with Tigres just two days after playing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He was a very important player for Tigres. He helped them reach the finals of the 2015 Copa Libertadores, which is a big tournament for South American clubs. He was also part of the team that won the Apertura 2015 season championship in Mexico. After winning the championship, he went on loan to Atlas and later played for Chiapas and Veracruz.
Playing for His Country
Arévalo Ríos was a key player for the Uruguay national team. He played in all their games at both the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. These are huge international tournaments where countries compete for the world title.
In 2011, he helped Uruguay win the Copa América in Argentina. This is a major football championship for South American teams. He was also chosen to be one of the older players for the London 2012 Olympics Uruguayan team. He even became the captain of the national team, showing his leadership skills.
