Growing Up and Family Background

Ego Nwodim was born on March 10, 1988. She is Nigerian American and comes from the Igbo heritage. Her cousin, Eberechi Eze, is a professional English footballer. He plays for the Premier League club Crystal Palace and also for the England national football team.

Education and Comedy Training

In 2006, Ego graduated from Eastern Technical High School in Essex, Baltimore County, Maryland. She then went on to earn a biology degree from the University of Southern California. After college, she decided to follow her passion for comedy. She began taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB) in Los Angeles. This is a famous place where many comedians learn and perform.

Ego Nwodim was a regular performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. She even had her own one-woman show there called Great Black Women...and Then There's Me. In 2023, she wore a Crystal Palace shirt with Eze's name on it during an episode of Saturday Night Live.
