After playing regularly for the reserve team, Eirik signed a professional contract in July 2012. He played in some pre-season games and was on the bench when Manchester City won the FA Community Shield against Chelsea.
Loan to Scunthorpe United
In March 2013, Eirik joined League One team Scunthorpe United on a one-month loan. He was there to help out because their main goalkeeper was injured. He played his first game for Scunthorpe on March 9, 2013. His loan was extended, and he played eight games for them that season.
Loan to Sandefjord
After his loan, Eirik signed another three-year contract with Manchester City. In January 2014, he went on a six-month loan to Sandefjord in Norway. He reunited with his old coach there and became their main goalkeeper.

Playing in New York
In March 2015, Eirik joined Major League Soccer club New York City. He was briefly loaned to Wilmington Hammerheads, a team in a lower league, where he played one game.

Eirik played his second debut for Sandefjord in the first game of the season. He quickly became the team's main goalkeeper again. However, Sandefjord was relegated (moved down to a lower league) at the end of the 2018 season. Eirik played 30 games that year.
