Ejiro Evero, born on January 6, 1981, is a talented American football coach. He currently works as the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League (NFL). Early Life
Ejiro Evero was born in Colchester, England. But he grew up mostly in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He went to Alta Loma High School there.
Playing Career
Evero played college football at UC Davis. He was a safety, a defensive position. In 2004, he signed with the Oakland Raiders. He joined them as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the main NFL draft.
Coaching Career
Ejiro Evero has had a long and successful coaching career. He has worked with many different NFL teams.
Starting with the Buccaneers
Evero got his first coaching job in the NFL in 2007. He joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He worked as a defensive quality control coach until 2009. This role helps coaches review game films and strategies.
Moving to the 49ers
After leaving the Buccaneers, Evero spent a year coaching at the University of Redlands. In 2011, he returned to the NFL. He joined the San Francisco 49ers. He worked in different roles there. From 2011 to 2015, he was a quality control coach, then an offensive assistant, and finally a defensive assistant.
Time with the Packers
In 2016, Evero moved to the Green Bay Packers. He worked as a defensive quality control coach for one season.
Super Bowl Win with the Rams
Evero joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2017. He coached their safeties until 2020. In 2021, his role changed. He became the secondary coach and passing game coordinator. He helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI in the 2021-2022 season. This was a big achievement for him!
Coaching the Broncos
On February 18, 2022, Evero was hired by the Denver Broncos. He became their defensive coordinator for the 2022 season. When the Broncos' head coach was fired, Evero was offered the temporary head coach job. But he chose to stay as the defensive coordinator. On February 4, 2023, he left the Broncos.
Joining the Panthers
Just one day later, on February 5, 2023, Evero was hired by the Carolina Panthers. He became their defensive coordinator under head coach Frank Reich. In February 2024, it was announced that he would keep his job under the new head coach, Dave Canales.
