El Bosque (which means "the forest" in Spanish) is a commune located in Chile. It is part of Santiago Province in the Santiago Metropolitan Region. The commune covers an area of about 14.1 km2 (5 sq mi).

About El Bosque
El Bosque is a city and commune in Chile. It is located in the Santiago Metropolitan Region. This area is entirely urban, meaning it's a city with no rural parts.
Population and Growth
According to a census taken in 2002, El Bosque had 175,594 people living there. Out of these, 86,435 were men and 89,159 were women. The population grew by a small amount, about 1.6%, between 1992 and 2002.
How El Bosque is Governed
As a commune, El Bosque is like a local district in Chile. It is managed by a group called a municipal council. This council is led by an alcalde, which is like a mayor. The mayor is chosen by the people in an election every four years.
Current Leaders
The mayor of El Bosque from 2012 to 2016 was Sadi Melo Moya. He is a member of the Socialist Party.
