El Campello is a lovely town found on Spain's Costa Blanca. It is part of the Valencian Community. You can easily reach it from Alicante city by a 20-minute tram ride. The town has a busy marina and a lively fish market.

A tall tower stands overlooking the harbour. It was built way back in the 16th century. Its job was to act as a lookout for ships.

Every October, El Campello celebrates its special moros i cristians (Moors and Christians) festival. This festival includes fun "battles" through the town. People dress up in amazing costumes for parades. There are also exciting fireworks displays at night.

El Campello is home to some very old and interesting places. These sites show how people lived here long, long ago.

La Illeta Archaeological Site

Near the harbour, you can find the archaeological remains of La Illeta. This site is also known as 'Banyets de la Reina'. Here, you can see circular cabins that are about 5,000 years old! These cabins date back to 3000 BC.

You can also see the remains of Roman-era fish factories. This important site covers 4,000 square meters. Many items have been found here. These include tools from the Bronze Age. There are also signs of an important Iberian community from the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC. You can even find parts of a Roman villa from the 2nd century. This villa had four fish ponds carved into the rock. Later, there were also some Arab settlements during the Middle Ages.

The Watchtower

The tower by the harbour is a historic landmark. It was built in the 1500s. Its main purpose was to spot pirate ships or other dangers coming from the sea. This helped protect the town's people.

Fun Festivals

El Campello loves to celebrate! One of its biggest events is the Moors and Christians festival.

This festival happens every October. It remembers the history of Spain. People dress up in amazing, colourful costumes. They represent either the Moors or the Christians. The festival includes daily "battles" that are like plays. There are also many parades with music and dancing. At night, the sky lights up with fireworks. It's a truly spectacular event!

El Campello is also a place for learning. It has a school that welcomes students from different countries.

French School in El Campello

The Lycée Français d'Alicante is a French international school. It is located right here in El Campello. The school moved to its current location in 2005. It offers education following the French system.
