El Cinco is a neighborhood, also called a barrio, located in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is one of 18 barrios that make up the municipality of San Juan. Long ago, El Cinco was part of a different town called Río Piedras.
In 2020, about 5,610 people lived in El Cinco. The area covers about 1.34 square miles (3.5 square kilometers). This means many people live close together in this neighborhood.

Where is El Cinco?
El Cinco is surrounded by seven other neighborhoods. These include Gobernador Piñero, Monacillo Urbano, Monacillo, Cupey, Sabana Llana Sur, Río Piedras (pueblo), and Hato Rey Sur. Knowing its neighbors helps you understand where El Cinco is on a map.
Cool Places and History
El Cinco is home to several important historical sites. These places are listed in the National Register of Historic Places in the United States. This means they are special and worth protecting.
Old Aqueduct
One cool spot is the historic Old Piedras River Aqueduct. It's also known as the San Juan Historic Aqueduct. This old water system was built way back in 1846. It helped bring clean water to people. Today, it's a historic site that you can visit.
Historic Bridge
The Río Piedras Bridge is another historic landmark. It was built in 1853. This bridge is shared with the nearby Hato Rey Sur neighborhood. It shows how old structures can still be useful and beautiful today.

You can also find the Rum Pilot Plant in El Cinco. It's located at the University of Puerto Rico Experimental Agricultural Station. This plant likely helped with research related to rum production. Getting Around El Cinco
El Cinco has a modern way to travel: the Tren Urbano. This is a metro system that helps people get around San Juan.
Cupey Station
The Cupey station is part of the Tren Urbano. It's an elevated station, meaning it's built above the ground. You can find it where two main roads, PR-1 and PR-176, meet in El Cinco. Even though it's called "Cupey station," it's actually located in El Cinco, very close to the Cupey neighborhood.
